What should I bring?
A yoga mat (if you have one), water.. and an open mind. 🙂
Can I practice yoga with an injury?
Yes! Yoga is a discipline that promotes self-awareness and self-healing. It is important to be very mindful of your physical body while you’re in your practice. Yoga is therapeutic and can help the body heal itself if practiced with the right amount of caution and consciousness. It is always advised to consult with your primary doctor prior to practicing.
Can I hurt myself by practicing yoga?
Absolutely! It would be ridiculous to deny that misalignment and malpractice in yoga can land you in a painful or uncomfortable state. One thing we practice in yoga is to leave the ego out of your practice. This enables us to explore internally, with ease and consciousness of our vessels, to avoid going beyond our limits and hurting ourselves.
Can I lose weight by practicing yoga?
Sure! Although a lot of what we practice in Hatha Yoga focuses on the mind & the breath, a great deal of the practice is physical. You will definitely have an opportunity to sweat out your toxins which most times, helps to shed calories. Yoga also focuses on channelling energy and optimizing growth in the mind, body and spirit. It is likely that your yoga journey will lead you to eating nutritious foods and superfoods which will also have an impact on your weight.
